Information to Better Service

April 12, 2008 – 1:16 pm

My name is Tom Pliske.  I am a CPA and an attorney with over 25 years of tax experience.  Most of my career was working as an attorney for the Office of Chief Counsel, the legal counsel for the IRS.  My partner, Rob Stienjes, also a former IRS attorney and formerly a clerk for the chief judge of the U.S. Tax Court, and I have decided to start this blog, in order to provide an avenue for better information and more complete information with respect to IRC 7623, the new tax whistleblower law.  We believe that knowledge is power and our goal is to educate the readers of this blog in order that the reader may make thoughtful well reasoned decisions in proceeding in this program.  We have noticed over the past year that many non-tax attorneys have begun marketing their services in this area of the law, but fail to have the experience or knowledge to properly represent a tax whistleblolwer in their case.

As time progresses, we will solict thoughts and ideas from our readers.  Our goal is to increase competition among “tax” whistleblower attorneys so that better service can be given to those applying for a tax reward under the tax whistleblower program.  Again, the goal of this blog is to provide information so that -

  • more cases will be submitted to the IRS in a better format increasing the rate of acceptance under the IRS Whistleblower Program;
  • obtain a higher rate of reward (30% rather than 15%) for the individual with the special knowledge;
  • protect the confidentiality of the whistleblower; and
  • increase competition among the attorneys to provide better service.

We will solicit your comments and questions as time progresses.

Thanks

Tom
